Villa Fantasia
Guest Comments

My husband and I are in our mid 40’s and after 10 yrs of eye balling this villa, we finally booked it for our 25th Anniversary. I kick myself in the butt for not doing it sooner.
This was totally awesome. This was our 10th time on the Island, 3rd time for a week and 1st time staying on this part of the island. Location is out of this world. Being just the 2 of us, this was more house then we needed, but loved it. We used the middle bedroom, as we thought it had the best views from the 3 balcony windows.
I agree that Mike (caretaker) was great. Mid week he came in and tidied up the place and changed the bedding. Our last night we invited down to Latitude 18 for drinks. We didn’t even know he was around all week, unless when we were leaving the place and seen him outside his place. I agree that the road leading up to the place is pot hole city, and next time without a doubt will rent a truck or jeep. Not the owners fault at all, just a bad washed out road. Dependable Car Rental is the best prices we’ve seen to rent a car. Décor of the house is decorated very nicely. Kept up extremely well!! Coffee in the mornings by the pool, morning swim and hot tub ever night – couldn’t ask for a better way to start your morning or end the night. Each night we went for a night cap in the Red Hook area, 10 minute drive down the hill, lots of bars/restaurants. Coki beach is our favorite beach with snorkeling right there. Our anniversary day was a sunset sail with Jester to St. Johns for a vow renewal on the beach, look for my review with him also. Lobster dinner at The Blue Moon, wonderful. Took the car ferry to St. Johns, Trunk is our favorite beach and stopped in at Cowpet (which is closed for 2 months). For the first time we did the BVI Breakaway tour – absolutely the best for your money. Shopping: Plaza Extra (Kmart) for groceries, best prices. Al Cohen Liquors Havensight for the best prices on Alcohol. House of Rajah for all my jewelry shopping (15 yrs. now with them).
I would 100% recommend this place again to anyone, and will without a doubt stay here over and over again. We spent a lot of time exploring the island and visiting different beaches we've never hit up before. First time in October and we loved that it was less crowded with people then the normal month of March we always do.
Thanks Tom for having such a wonder rental place and thanks Mike for all your help and Hillary for allowing us to use your computer to print our boarding passes.
We, without a doubt, loved this place and location. We felt like king and queen of the world looking down at everyone. Can’t wait to go back.

This was the best vacation ever, so far. The flight was stellar. The rental car from Dependable Car Rental was flawless. They picked us up at the airport. By the way, rent a jeep, they're fun. Driving on the left side of the road was challenging yet envigorating. Thank goodness one of our party was a true lefty so he adapted well to the driving thing. The road to the villa wasn't that bad and we navigated without difficulty.
The villa's caretaker, Mike, we loved him, met us in Red Hook and lead us to the villa. When we crested the hill into the world of the Villa Fantasia, we could not have been more pleased. We ran through the beautiful front entrance, up the stairs to the beautiful living space and directly out to the amazing pool deck.
Our jaws dropped as we took in the unbelievable view. A view like no other. We eventually ventured back into the wonders of the villa and picked our bedrooms. All of which were fantastic. The week at the villa was beautiful, stress free and outright amazing. The wildlife was fascinating. Mike, the
caretaker was great. We wanted for nothing.
We all tried to figure out how we could just stay there and not have to go back to the real world.

We will definitely go back and recommend it highly to others.
Wish we were there right now.

Just returned from a 10 day trip to Villa Fantasia and it was awesome! It was our second visit, the first was in 2007 and we are already planning our next visit.

I have traveled all over the Caribbean and can say without a doubt, the view from there is second to none.
As with all small islands the roads leading up to Fantasia can seem menacing, especially when you are "staying left" but it becomes second hand in no time. We rented a van as there were 6 of us and it worked out perfect and inexpensive too.

The caretakers who live on site were wonderful and saw to all our needs... and then some! There were several renovations done since our last visit making it even nicer...remodeled kitchen and bedroom and new flat screen televisions throughout (not that you have much time to watch TV) and they had wireless internet for those who needed it. Most of our mornings were spent by the pool looking out at St. John and the evenings in the hot tub looking out over St. Thomas. The days were filled with snorkeling, boating and shopping. What a life, I hated to come back to reality.

I would highly recommend Villa Fantasia to anyone but especially those who want to share a little piece of paradise.

This was our third visit to Villa Fantasia, and, again, we found it to be home base for a most relaxing vacation. We brought along our two sons and one of their friends, all mid-20s. The three suites worked well to give quiet and privacy in the evening. We always take the "rock" suite, it's the best!
You definitely want to rent a vehicle when you go. I would recommend Dependable Car Rental. They will pick you up and return you to the airport. Remember - drive on the left. The villa is located about 20-25 minutes from the airport and Charlotte Amalie. The final road up to the villa will challenge your mettle the first time you do it, but it gets easier each time, and when you get to the top it is worth it, big time!!!
From the villa at the top of Cabrita Point, you have a 360 dgree view, (starting north and going clockwise) taking in Red Hook, some of the British Virgin Islands, St Johns, Great St James Island, (on a clear day) St Croix - 20 miles away, and look down upon the Ritz.
Most of our days were similar. Get up, have coffe on the pool deck while reading and watching the sun come up over St Johns, have breakfast, pack a lunch, go to the beach, come home (the villa feels like "home" immediately) play in the pool, relax and bed so we will be ready to do it all over again tomorrow. A nice addition this trip was the wi-fi and HD tv with full cable. No need to go to the internet cafe in Red Hook this time. If you are going to cook in, the prices are cheaper in Charlotte Amalie than Red Hook. A favorite dining place to eat in Red Hook is Molly Malones. This trip we ate at the Mexican restaurant above Molly's and it was great.
Favorite beaches - on St Thomas: Meagan's Bay (stop at Udder Delite for the world's best shakes), Cocoa, and Sapphire. on St Johns: Trunk, Hawks Nest, Leinster, and Salt Pond Bay. This was the first time we visited Salt Pond Bay and it immediately moved to #1 on our list, secluded with great snorkeling. It is a bit of a walk from the parking area, but well worth it.
As usual, one day was for shopping in Charlotte Amalie. This is where my wife now buys her larger pieces of jewelry. Man-suggestion, bring a book. My wife has learned to not buy any thing until she has covered the full street to compare prices. Cardow's has the best selection (and AC-seating for me) with good prices, but she has often found great pieces at great prices in the small shops found on the streets and in the alleys. Prices will be lowered several times as you bargain, and don't be afraid to quote a good price you received in another store.
The boys found plenty of night life in the Red Hook, but I couldn't tell you where since we were always asleep when they came home.
Because we have been there before, we didn't require much of Mike, the caretaker, but he stopped by several times to make sure everything was meeting our needs. The laundary was well-stocked and Mike kept the bottled-water well supplied. The boys met Jen, the concierge. and appreciated the suggestions she gave them.
The only negative was the mosquitoes. This was the first time we went during the rainy season. It didn't rain on us, but it had earlier, leaving standing water for mosquito-breeding. Mike helped up by supplying repellent.
One last suggestion - pack light; swimsuits, shorts, shirts, sandals, and, most importantly, snorkeling gear. Leave your worries and cares at home. The Virgin Islands offer a great place to vacation and Villa Fantasia is the perfect place to stay while there. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Dear Tom,

Our stay our Villa Fantasia was just like the first one, five years ago; in a word, Amazing!  For me Fantasia is the place I married my beautiful wife, the beauty of Fantasia only added to our romance. The views, breezes, and peacefulness are second to nowhere else in the world.  For anyone seeking  privacy and unparallel beauty of a magical house, this should be their destination.  We'll be back for our third, fourth and many more times!

Hello Tom,

Just wanted to send you a big thank you for our stay at Villa Fantasia over Easter week 2009. As you know, we are return guests to the house and for good reason. Villa Fantasia has everything a guest could ask for in a Caribbean vacation home. The location high atop Cabrita Point on the far east end really has the best of both world. The proximity to Red Hook where the ferries depart for St. John and the BVI is very convenient. From the villa, you can be down to Red Hook in about 5 or 10 minutes where you can also enjoy all the restaurants, bars, day trips, boat rentals, and grocery shopping that one could ask for. Also, you can be downtown in about 20 minutes from the villa. The location is absolutely perfect for a couple or family to enjoy all that St. Thomas has to offer. The privacy of the villa is also excellent. We always feel as if we are on "top of the world" as we relax on the 3,000 ft deck with probably one of the best views in all of the Caribbean. 360 degree panoramic unobstructed views of pure paradise.
We have traveled all over the Caribbean and stayed in several villas and cannot find a view that even comes close to the view from the deck at Villa Fantasia. Not to mention the pool, the pool bar, and the hot tub. Having your own private happy hour while soaking in the hot tub watching the sun set over the Ritz-Carlton resort is as about relaxing as one can be on a Caribbean vacation.
The house, as always was clean and the caretakers were friendly and can assist you with any island activities that you need. Waking up every morning in the master bedroom with a stunning view of St. John just makes us want to stay forever. I guess, no I know, that is why we keep returning to villa fantasia every time we visit St. Thomas.
Thanks again, tom and we will be talking to you soon.

 Cheers

Hi Tom!

I just stayed at Fantasia from February 28 through March 7th, and I thought it was a beautiful place.  The view is spectacular.  You might want to update your website and put some more pictures of the view, because the pictures you currently have do not do it justice!  I would definitely come back.
I work for a law firm and one of the attorneys here is thinking about renting your villa.  I gave him the website link.

 Thanks for a great trip!

To future guests at Villa Fantasia:

If you are looking for breath taking views, this is the place.  You get a view of St John as well as the entire island of St Thomas.  The bedrooms are very spacious and also offer excellent views.  The property is very private.  There is no reason to leave as this place is just paradise.  The caretakers are very attentive and will take care of anything that you need.  I would definatly recommend this villa.

Thanks again for a great trip.

Hi Tom,

We visited Villa Fantasia in January '09 and loved your beautiful house.  There were 4 of us and we felt like we had our own private resort.  The most amazing part is, of course, the view.  Absolutely incredible views of St. John, Tortola, Yost and the many other cays.
We are boaters on the Chesapeake so the constant boat parade was a huge plus!  We also enjoyed the open air feel of the house, especially the living room.  We cooked quite a bit and the kitchen was easy to maneuver.
I have stayed in many places in the different islands and I will definitely return to your home again.
The caretakers were very helpful with any questions or issues and we could not have been happier on top of Cabrita Point!!

Hope to see you again very soon!!

 Hi Tom,

I wanted to thank you for a fantastic week at Villa Fantasia and St. Thomas.  The Villa was excellent and everything was as presented on your website.  One of the most striking features at Villa Fantasia is the view, which is even more incredible than on the website. I have had the opportunity to travel extensively both domestically and internationally and I can honestly say that it is the best view I have ever seen.  My family and I thoroughly enjoyed  simply relaxing on the deck and taking in the view.
In addition, I want to commend your housekeeping staff, Larry and Brianne  and your concierge, Jennifer Hall. The Villa was very clean and your housekeeping staff was helpful, cordial, and very responsive.
Jennifer was outstanding.  She was very enthusiastic and began contacting us weeks before our trip to ask us how she could assist. This was our first trip to St. Thomas and Jennifer went out of her way to recommend and help us schedule activities.  As a result, we were able to enjoy a wide range of activities in St. Thomas, St. John’s, and the British Virgin Islands.  Jennifer helped us plan a very enjoyable and complete vacation.
Looking back, our week in St. Thomas was one of the best vacations we have had, in terms of both value and content.  We are unanimous in deciding to return to the Villa and St. Thomas in the future.
I strongly recommend Villa Fantasia and your associates to anyone planning a visit to the Caribbean.
