The view is priceless !

Just got back from our first (but hopefully not last) trip to Villa Fantasia. We were three couples and the layout/accommodations were perfect. The views are just breathtaking - and the reason we will return! The photos do not do it justice.

The beds were all just updated to kings and are very comfortable. The caretakers - Mike and Hillary - were great and very helpful. The location was suburb - only 10 minutes to Red Hook and the road leading to the villa is not as bad as some made it out to be.

I do however recommend a jeep and Discount Car Rental was great. The bathrooms could use a little updating and the home is a little dated but I would highly recommend this villa.

Hi Tom,

What a view...what a place...what an absolute delight...sitting out on the patio late at night watching the stars was awesome...Mike, the incomparable caretaker, was great and a real delight.

Jen Hall coordinated an island tour; an in-villa chef dinner; and scuba diving...thank God for the jeep...interesting roads...my daughter, who is training for the Baltimore Marathon, had me running down the hill from the Villa to the stop sign and back every morning...I nearly died...

Hi Tom,

We enjoyed our trip and stay at Villa Fantasia very much. Words cannot explain the experience and the full beauty of the location as well as vistas. The views were outstanding and the location was perfect. We needed to relax and were able to do so. Took a day trip to St. John's for Carnival and had a blast. The fireworks display from the pool deck was incredible. We all agreed that it was the first time we didn't have to tip our heads up to enjoy fireworks. The stars at night are just beautiful. The trade winds kept the main living areas cool.

As for the service. Mike is a really great guy. He was helpful as far as suggestions on places to go. If we asked him for something he responded immediately. Mike even gave us a little history about the various islands located around the Villa. He even let us borrow the car one day to go to Duffy's. He is a very nice person and we all enjoyed chatting with him.

We all enjoyed our stay very much.

Thanks again, we loved Fantasia.

You can add our names to the list of happy vacationers who had the good fortune to stay at Villa Fantasia. When I called Tom Spruance about the VRBO listing I was in a hurry to book a house near the RitzCarlton where we would be attending a medical conference. I never looked at the reviews just the pretty picture. Well, we were delighted with the breathtaking view, the unusual style of the villa, ( we thought a cross between a lighthouse and a castle), and the helpful caretakers. The weather was great for the week with sunshine and cooling breezes, and we managed to take about 500 photos from the pool terrace. Our arrival night we had a caribbean lobster stuffed with seafood risotto dinner prepared by a local West Indian chef ( Lee Prager ) and served on the terrace by the light of a full moon. Lee is also a chef at Latitude 18 which is not to be missed.

We rented a jeep ( Dependable ) so the road to Fantasia was not a problem. The road is a popular route for diehard runners. For the past 25 years we have stayed in St. John and this year we spent a week on each island. Fantasia is an easy ride into RedHook for restaurants ( recommend The Cellar and The East End Cafe) and the ferry to St. John. We had to extend our trip due to the snowstorm which closed our airport so we booked a few more days at the Ritz Carlton. ( Fantasia was booked ) While the Ritz is a great hotel, rooms, service, the overly crowded beach was such a let down after having a 3000 sq. ft. pool terrace all to ourselves. Fantasia has a premier spot on Cabrita Point and Joe and I can't wait to go back.

What an awesome view! 360 degree view of Cabria Point looking out to St. John and the British VIs. A three bedroom home complete with full kitchen, living space, laundry, pool and hot tub, for your vacation escape. We traveled with two other couples and the cost was comparable to staying at a resort hotel except we were not bothered by other guests. We had the place to ourselves and never had to worry about when the kitchen closed. It was always open. While you need to do your own cooking and go grocery shopping, it was no problem and worked out well. The Villa is conveniently located near Red Hook with its restaurants, entertainment, shopping and ferry access. It will be a vacation to remember and repeat! Go for it!

Villa Fantasia is simply put "amazing". I went with my family over the Holidays this year and it was the best thing we've done in a while. The house has 3 bedrooms each with phenomenal views. The pool had a view of all surrounding islands and St John (right in front of you). Seriously, we saw the pictures and they almost don’t even do this place justice. The kitchen is fully functional, Hot Tub and BBQ situated on the side of the house opposite the pool, connected by a wrap around deck - everywhere you go, the views are gorgeous.

We had a 98% sunny week, was just gorgeous. Location of the house is on a piece of land jutting out (a "point" as some would say), the house is on top of it. like on TOP, there are only a few other houses on the hill, you're pretty secluded. But, still only a short drive away from the local bars and great restaurants. Only advice is to get a jeep type vehicle on St Thomas, its more hilly than we expected. This place is lovely, the owner is very nice as are the caretakers.

The Villa Fantasia was a true fantasy trip - a dream come true. Susan and I recently got together as a couple and when she found out that I had never been to the Caribbean, she insisted that I go on a trip she had already planned with her two teen-aged children so we could relax and get to know each other better.

The flight was long from Portland but we arrived in good spirits and began with the adventure of driving on the left side of the road from Charlotte Amolie to Red Hook where we met Mike and he took us up to the hill to the Villa.

When we got there it was everything we had hoped for. The views were breathtaking, the house spacious and clean, the beds comfortable, the water hot and the weather – coming in December – was more than we could ask for.

The three bedroom suites were perfect – each of the kids had his/her own room and they were separate and private from Susan and me.

There was plenty to do on the island – nightlife, shopping, dining, swimming, snorkeling and just relaxing. The ferry to St. Johns was right at the bottom of the hill in Red Hook and with Duffy’s, Latitude 18 and the Caribbean Saloon in town it was perfect.

Our thanks to friendly Mike who made sure things were clean and easy but kept out of the way unless he was needed and to Tom Spruance who opened up his beautiful house to us. We can’t wait to go back!

My husband and I are in our mid 40’s and after 10 yrs of eye balling this villa, we finally booked it for our 25th Anniversary. I kick myself in the butt for not doing it sooner.

This was totally awesome. This was our 10th time on the Island, 3rd time for a week and 1st time staying on this part of the island. Location is out of this world. Being just the 2 of us, this was more house then we needed, but loved it. We used the middle bedroom, as we thought it had the best views from the 3 balcony windows.

I agree that Mike (caretaker) was great. Mid week he came in and tidied up the place and changed the bedding. Our last night we invited down to Latitude 18 for drinks. We didn’t even know he was around all week, unless when we were leaving the place and seen him outside his place. I agree that the road leading up to the place is pot hole city, and next time without a doubt will rent a truck or jeep. Not the owners fault at all, just a bad washed out road. Dependable Car Rental is the best prices we’ve seen to rent a car. Décor of the house is decorated very nicely. Kept up extremely well!! Coffee in the mornings by the pool, morning swim and hot tub ever night – couldn’t ask for a better way to start your morning or end the night. Each night we went for a night cap in the Red Hook area, 10 minute drive down the hill, lots of bars/restaurants.

Coki beach is our favorite beach with snorkeling right there. Our anniversary day was a sunset sail with Jester to St. Johns for a vow renewal on the beach, look for my review with him also. Lobster dinner at The Blue Moon, wonderful. Took the car ferry to St. Johns, Trunk is our favorite beach and stopped in at Cowpet (which is closed for 2 months). For the first time we did the BVI Breakaway tour – absolutely the best for your money. Shopping: Plaza Extra (Kmart) for groceries, best prices. Al Cohen Liquors Havensight for the best prices on Alcohol. House of Rajah for all my jewelry shopping (15 yrs. now with them).

I would 100% recommend this place again to anyone, and will without a doubt stay here over and over again. We spent a lot of time exploring the island and visiting different beaches we've never hit up before. First time in October and we loved that it was less crowded with people then the normal month of March we always do.

Thanks Tom for having such a wonder rental place and thanks Mike for all your help and Hillary for allowing us to use your computer to print our boarding passes.

We, without a doubt, loved this place and location. We felt like king and queen of the world looking down at everyone. Can’t wait to go back.

This was the best vacation ever, so far. The flight was stellar. The rental car from Dependable Car Rental was flawless. They picked us up at the airport. By the way, rent a jeep, they're fun. Driving on the left side of the road was challenging yet envigorating. Thank goodness one of our party was a true lefty so he adapted well to the driving thing. The road to the villa wasn't that bad and we navigated without difficulty.

The villa's caretaker, Mike, we loved him, met us in Red Hook and lead us to the villa. When we crested the hill into the world of the Villa Fantasia, we could not have been more pleased. We ran through the beautiful front entrance, up the stairs to the beautiful living space and directly out to the amazing pool deck.

Our jaws dropped as we took in the unbelievable view. A view like no other. We eventually ventured back into the wonders of the villa and picked our bedrooms. All of which were fantastic. The week at the villa was beautiful, stress free and outright amazing. The wildlife was fascinating. Mike, the

caretaker was great. We wanted for nothing.

We all tried to figure out how we could just stay there and not have to go back to the real world.

We will definitely go back and recommend it highly to others.

Wish we were there right now.

My husband and I usually travel to St. Thomas once a month on business but at the beginning of October we planned a week-long family vacation (with his parents and sister) and decided to stay at the Villa Fantasia. Since my husband and I are very familiar with the island we already knew that staying on the Eastend is a must - the Eastend tends to be more relaxed and not tourist-ie, you always feel like you've really "gotten away from it all" on this end of the island. It is also the best area in terms of proximity to St. Thomas's most pristine beaches and the other Caribbean islands (the ferry to St. John is just 5 minutes away).

What we weren't prepared for was the spectacular lay-out of this property! Not only is the property COMPLETELY private (it occupies the very summit of the eastern-most peninsula so there are no other properties to block your view or look down on you - my mother-in-law skinny-dipped many times without having even any of US be any the wiser!) but the upstairs common rooms and the pool all also feature full 360 degree views. The photos do not do it justice. The whole house opens up and remains breezy and sooooo relaxing even during the hottest parts of the day.

The bedrooms are all located on the ground floor and each has it's own private bathroom. Are all spacious and all feature floor-to-ceiling windows with ocean views. The unique circular lay-out of the property allows you to leave your bedroom windows completely open and still be guaranteed full privacy (assuming you lay down "family rules" about not wandering around behind the bedrooms!) - the shower in our room was nothing but window!

We are all runners so another perk of this property is that you can take ocean-view jogs (starting right from your front door) all along the peninsula without having to worry about traffic. My sister-in-law snapped a photo with her phone while jogging and sent it to her co-workers: they responded with appropriate jealousy and claims that "they could handle jogging too if they had jogs with beaches on either side of them!"

The house also features a BBQ and hot tub. Nothing compares to unwinding in the hot-tub with a glass of champagne after a "hard day" at the beach! (In addition to a Food Land where you can buy staple items at the best prices on the island, the Eastend also features a wonderful wine shop right across from a specialty grocery store so you'll never be without items for the bar or grill.)

The caretakers were lovely and were on hand to greet us, familiarize us with the property, and answer a couple of questions that came up during the week.

Just returned from a 10 day trip to Villa Fantasia and it was awesome! It was our second visit, the first was in 2007 and we are already planning our next visit.

I have traveled all over the Caribbean and can say without a doubt, the view from there is second to none. As with all small islands the roads leading up to Fantasia can seem menacing, especially when you are "staying left" but it becomes second hand in no time. We rented a van as there were 6 of us and it worked out perfect and inexpensive too.

The caretakers who live on site were wonderful and saw to all our needs... and then some! There were several renovations done since our last visit making it even nicer...remodeled kitchen and bedroom and new flat screen televisions throughout (not that you have much time to watch TV) and they had wireless internet for those who needed it. Most of our mornings were spent by the pool looking out at St. John and the evenings in the hot tub looking out over St. Thomas. The days were filled with snorkeling, boating and shopping. What a life, I hated to come back to reality.

I would highly recommend Villa Fantasia to anyone but especially those who want to share a little piece of paradise.

This was our third visit to Villa Fantasia, and, again, we found it to be home base for a most relaxing vacation. We brought along our two sons and one of their friends, all mid-20s. The three suites worked well to give quiet and privacy in the evening. We always take the "rock" suite, it's the best!

You definitely want to rent a vehicle when you go. I would recommend Dependable Car Rental. They will pick you up and return you to the airport. Remember - drive on the left. The villa is located about 20-25 minutes from the airport and Charlotte Amalie. The final road up to the villa will challenge your mettle the first time you do it, but it gets easier each time, and when you get to the top it is worth it, big time!!!

From the villa at the top of Cabrita Point, you have a 360 dgree view, (starting north and going clockwise) taking in Red Hook, some of the British Virgin Islands, St Johns, Great St James Island, (on a clear day) St Croix - 20 miles away, and look down upon the Ritz.

Most of our days were similar. Get up, have coffe on the pool deck while reading and watching the sun come up over St Johns, have breakfast, pack a lunch, go to the beach, come home (the villa feels like "home" immediately) play in the pool, relax and bed so we will be ready to do it all over again tomorrow. A nice addition this trip was the wi-fi and HD tv with full cable. No need to go to the internet cafe in Red Hook this time. If you are going to cook in, the prices are cheaper in Charlotte Amalie than Red Hook. A favorite dining place to eat in Red Hook is Molly Malones. This trip we ate at the Mexican restaurant above Molly's and it was great.

Favorite beaches - on St Thomas: Meagan's Bay (stop at Udder Delite for the world's best shakes), Cocoa, and Sapphire. on St Johns: Trunk, Hawks Nest, Leinster, and Salt Pond Bay. This was the first time we visited Salt Pond Bay and it immediately moved to #1 on our list, secluded with great snorkeling. It is a bit of a walk from the parking area, but well worth it.

As usual, one day was for shopping in Charlotte Amalie. This is where my wife now buys her larger pieces of jewelry. Man-suggestion, bring a book. My wife has learned to not buy any thing until she has covered the full street to compare prices. Cardow's has the best selection (and AC-seating for me) with good prices, but she has often found great pieces at great prices in the small shops found on the streets and in the alleys. Prices will be lowered several times as you bargain, and don't be afraid to quote a good price you received in another store.

The boys found plenty of night life in the Red Hook, but I couldn't tell you where since we were always asleep when they came home. Because we have been there before, we didn't require much of Mike, the caretaker, but he stopped by several times to make sure everything was meeting our needs. The laundary was well-stocked and Mike kept the bottled-water well supplied. The boys met Jen, the concierge. and appreciated the suggestions she gave them.

The only negative was the mosquitoes. This was the first time we went during the rainy season. It didn't rain on us, but it had earlier, leaving standing water for mosquito-breeding. Mike helped up by supplying repellent.

One last suggestion - pack light; swimsuits, shorts, shirts, sandals, and, most importantly, snorkeling gear. Leave your worries and cares at home. The Virgin Islands offer a great place to vacation and Villa Fantasia is the perfect place to stay while there. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
